Why we need you!

Skybox is looking for an experienced and passionate Games Art Director to join the Games Development team. This is a new role in the organisation and will be tasked with developing the artistic vision across a new strategic initiative for gamers and fans of gaming across multiple titles, genres and formats, cascading into multiple projects. The scope is beyond just making one game. The Games Art Director is required so that we have a strong visually appealing product that will be recognised across the market.

 

This role is a full-time & permanent role located in Copenhagen, Denmark and reports to the Creative Director. 

 

Things you'll be doing in this role

  • Develop and communicate a compelling artistic vision for each Skybox  project, aligning with the overall game design and business goals.
  • Create conceptual ideas into visually stunning and cohesive art styles, fulfilling the unique challenges associated with the project.
  • Create and provide clear artistic direction, mentorship, and constructive feedback to foster the growth and creativity of the art team.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including game designers, developers, and animators, to ensure the seamless integration of art into the game environment.
  • Contribute to the development of artistic strategies and roadmaps for each part of the project, considering both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Work closely with project managers to establish realistic timelines and milestones for the art team, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality assets.
  • Maintain a high standard of artistic excellence throughout the development process, conducting regular reviews and quality checks to ensure consistency and alignment with project goals.
  • Implement best practices and industry standards to achieve top-tier outcomes
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in game design and art.
  • Introduce innovative ideas and techniques to continually elevate the artistic quality and creativity of our games.

What we require & desire from the candidate

  • +7 years relevant experience experience in the gaming industry.
  • Proven track record as an Art Director within gaming, having led and built high quality teams.

It's a bonus if you have:

  • A degree in relevant discipline such as Arts and Visual Design.
  • Experience with Open source, Game Engines, GLTF, Babylon, Blender in a web development environment.
